Narrow Escape

Well, the good Lord was watching over his Pam this morning as she was on her way to work.

Mom left the house earlier than normal, five minutes to be exact. She was driving down HWY 469 following a little red car when a big truck topped the hill going extremely fast and smashed into mom pushing her into the red car in front of her. The Acura is totaled. Mom said the backseat is broken in half. I am amazed! I guess I forget how we aren't promised tomorrow.

It makes me think-Why did she happen to leave 5 min early? Why couldn’t she have left right on time? Maybe she saved a life—who knows? Mom did say that if he hit the car in front of her, it would have killed that person.

I love my mama.

Gigantic thanks goes to our close family friend, Mike Martin. I know he won't read this, but I want you to know that he has always been there for us. Mom called him since his house was within a mile down the road (Dad was at Mooreco). He got there immediately. I just wish I was closer.

On a funny note--guess where she is hours after the wreck?? Any guesses? At work. Dad got her a rental car and she headed to Hinds. Only Pam--right? Well, keep her in your prayers. Not only will she be working through a stove-up body tomorrow, but getting ready to celebrate her 55th birthday on Saturday! Ha! She doesn’t look it does she? Happy birthday Mama! I love you!

Yours,

Amy

Small Request..

Ben and I have been praying a lot lately about his future. He LOVES coaching baseball at Carey and would love to stay, but they do not have the funds to hire an additional coach. So what does that mean? He's on the prowl for a job. What is so sad is that he really got his hopes up for the assistant job at Carey. My heart really breaks for him.

Statistics (don't get bored)
I don't give him full credit for Carey's success this year, but someone is making an impact. Carey is ranked for the first time since November 2005! (#16 in the country) As they say, I'll let the numbers speak for themselves. They are 24-5 in the conference. (24 wins and 5 losses--yes that is good).

Anyway.....
I ask that you keep him in your prayers. God opened doors at Carey for a purpose. Only he knows the future and I have faith.

Yours,

Amy

Love Bears All Things

Well, I haven't had the time to get on here and update everyone on Bear. Oops! Bear is living it up in Tylertown, MS and getting real comfortable with his new owners. I know you are overjoyed to hear this news Uncle Huey!

Tasha (the girl who gave him to her parents) broke down and told me the actual story to how Bear ended up at her parents. She basically told them a little white lie. She asked them to keep him while she figured a way to convince her husband to keep him. After a week, her dad told her she couldn’t have him.

Bear has taken his cast off (about a month after having it on) and I guess he will be fine. He still hops around like it is still on his leg. I will have to get an update in a few weeks to see if the leg is better. But, he is definitely happy about his living quarters. Tasha had to go out of town for a week and dropped her pup, Jack, off at her parents. They picked up Jack to put with Bear and he did not like that he was going to have to share his living quarters with the new guy! Funny, huh? Evidently he is happy and at home. Another precious thing is that Tasha's mom called her so excited that Bear came into the house for a “rub.” He is extremely close with her dad, but not the mom. (That is how he was with Ben and me! Something to wonder about..)

Other than that, school is going well. I got my teacher evaluations in and they were okay. They weren't bad, but I get down with any type of criticism. I want to be the best and don't like to be anything less. I was a little annoyed that they only evaluated two of the six classes I teach. One class had only four students in it. Oh well. Next year will be better! I can't believe I am a few weeks away from finishing my first "big girl job." Boy has it been fun and challenging! I have loved it. I will find out soon if they want me back. Some say I am crazy for making that statement, but no one ever knows until they receive that contract! :) Well, I’m off to bed.

Yours,

Amy

Summertime!

I don't know about you, but I am SO ready for summer! I am about to get out of this office and "head out on the highway"! The pretty spring day is calling my name! This summer is going to be busy but productive. I plan to knock out 3 classes in grad school and make a little extra pay by teaching some online classes. To help feel this void I have for summer, I created something I can look at during the day. Enjoy!

Amy
