Ben's First Game of the Season & Mom's Visit

Well, it's that time of year--baseball season! WCU's first game this year's in Shreveport, LA against the LSUS Pilots. I hate that it is 4 hours away. The weather has been real rainy this weekend, so I'm glad it was an away game.

On a good note, Mom came to stay! I haven't seen her in a few weeks so I was so excited to hear she was going to take off Friday to spend with Mackenzie and me.

Friday and Saturday have been full of shopping. I'm glad Mackenzie loves getting out and is such a good baby. I'm amazed at how much patience she already has! Mom got to see how happy she is all the time. The baby wakes up smiling and goes to bed in a good mood. We sure are enjoying every minute, second of her! I'm heeding the advice from Mom in that I'm spending as much as I can with her.

I posted some pictures below of Ben leaving for his first trip and Mom with Mackenzie.

Reading with Mom & Dad

Every bit of research I read encourage parents to read at a very young age to their children--so that is what we are doing. Mackenzie really enjoys her books. We took some pictures of this special time in our life and recorded it on video, too!

Ben's Hunting Trips

Ben was able to hunt a little this winter and we were able to get plenty of meat out of his trips. Below are two bucks he got this season. You will notice one with a triple beam rack--very unusual. He killed that one on Mom & Dad's land in Florence.

Also notice the hat he is wearing in both shots. His Boston hat is now his official "lucky hat." ...Typical baseball player. :)

Avery & Mackenzie

Avery came to stay at Mem & Papaw's for a week and I got some cute pics of them.

Christmas 2011

Our first Christmas was full of memories! A few days before Christmas, Mackenzie came down with a sinus infection and it was no fun! She then decided to pass it on to me, which definitely was no fun AT ALL! Thank goodness I was able to take a z-pack, but unfortunately Mackenzie had to let her infection run its course.

This year was spent recovering at my parents and spending time with family as they came over.

Below are some pictures of Christmas at "The Parkers in Bolton" and then Christmas at The Perry's. Mackenzie was spoiled with gifts from both sides. Other than fighting colds, this Christmas was a fun one. We certainly cannot wait until next year when she can light up when she plays with her cousins and experiences all the festivities.
